Durametallic has developed the PA, PB and PC Dura Seal® series, three completely new seals, specifically engineered to exceed American Petroleum Institute (API) 682 standards. The API 682 mechanical seal standard was developed jointly by users and equipment manufacturers to extend seal life, reduce emissions, ensure plant and personnel safety in hazardous environments, and to standardize and simplify sealing systems.

All Durametallic API 682 Seal designs have been tested according to the rigorous protocols established in the 682 standard. This ensures that these seals will provide the exceptional reliability demanded for all refinery services.

Our collaboration with refinery rotating equipment experts has resulted in added features that go well beyond the minimum requirements set forth by API including interchangeability, a non-damaging seal drive
mechanism, a high performance flow inducer, and other advancements.

The Durametallic PA Series is a cartridge, pusher, flexible stator, seal design for a wide range of refinery and petrochemical services ranging from water and caustics, up through light hydrocarbon services. Both the PA and PB series are available in three configurations:

100 (Arrangement 1) Single Seal

200 (Arrangement 2) Dual with
unpressurized buffer (tandem)

300 (Arrangement 3) Dual with
pressurized barrier (double)

The Durametallic PC-100 is a cartridge, high temperature, single Inconel® metal bellows design, ruggedly engineered for severe service. PC-200 and PC-300 arrangements are available as engineered seals upon request.

Dura Airfin Cooler

The Dura Airfin Cooler reduces temperatures surrounding mechanical seal without using cooling water. The Airfin cooler offers substantial savings in flush water purchase and treatment. It is less susceptible to fouling, more efficient and requires less piping than a water flush system Plus, it’s easy to install and maintain. Model 625NC relies on natural convention of air over the coil for cooling. Model 625FC utilizes forced air by an efficient motor.

Dura Lapper

Economical, versatile and portable way to lap and polish seal faces in the field. Can be used with virtually any seal face material. Unit weighs only 26 pounds. Comes with two 6” diamond-impregnated aluminum plates for rough and finish polishing of materials harder than 60Rc. Optional 8” and 10” diamond-impregnated and cast iron plates available. Includes monochromatic light source for measuring seal face flatness, high/low intensity lamp for seal examination, and two plastic squeeze bottles.

BGM Bearing Protector

Like Bearing Gard, BGM keeps contaminants from ruining bearings. Utilizes rare earth magnets to seal off bearing housing completely. Often used in outdoor and other applications where absolutely no humidity, dirt or dust can be tolerated. Patented coaxial face design ensures long life. Very easy to install. Lasts up to 25 times longer than lip seals. Numerous sizes available.

Seal Gard Flow Meters

Seal Gard provides an effective and reliable way to carefully monitor and control the flow of flush water to single, double or tandem Dura Seal designs. Provides reliable flow at low flush rates. Resists plugging from large particles that normally block conventional needle-type flow control valves. Unique flow control valve reduces tampering. Numerous other monitoring and control options available. Two are available: Seal Gard I for single seals; Seal Gard II for double and tandem seals.

Bearing Gard

Eliminates bearing failures due to lubricant contamination. Close-tolerance labyrinth design locks out moisture, grit and dust. Allows bearing frame pressure vents (a common point of contamination) to be plugged. Lasts for the life of the pump and fits existing lip seal cavities. Unitized construction for error-proof installation. Recommended for use on all process pumps and other rotating equipment. Numerous sizes available.

Dura Heat Exchanger

Heat exchanger provides an effective way to cool Dura Seals. Flow of the pumped product through the heat exchanger can be induced with a bypass line from the pump discharge, or with a special Dura Circulating feature. Compact and lightweight. Features a stainless steel cooling coil hydrostatically tested at 3000 psig (20690 kPa). Cover is easily removed for coil cleaning. Stainless steel construction for maximum corrosion resistance.

Dura Circulator

The Dura Circulator supplies a controlled volume of sealing liquid at uniform pressure and temperature to stuffing boxes containing double Dura Seals. It is available in a variety of basic units for various pressure and capacities. Nominal capacities range from 1-4 gpm, while pressure varies from 50-2000 psig. Metric units are also available.
